ISSAY! Mag is a free, digitally accessible arts magazine that exists at the intersection between mediums and localities. We prioritize the works of marginalized creatives and offer this publication as a space where communities have agency to tell their stories. We believe art exists on all planes, but reject the barriers and stipulations of the “art world” and its arbiters. Our mission is to spark interdisciplinary connection through written work and contemporary art forms, and our hope is that when you’re here, you might find something new, honest, and inviting.
ISSAY! publishes semiannually and accepts non-fiction, creative fiction, poetry, visual, digital, and performance art from contributors around the world. If you’re not sure if your work is right for ISSAY! send us an email here. To see if we’re accepting pitches, click here.
This magazine is a project by Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Society. M:ST is a singularly agile community arts organization whose explorations bridge artistic development and social issues. With each project we build a bespoke infrastructure in which artists can create their most ambitious work alongside, and within relevant community contexts.
Our office is located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, and the home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Districts 5 and 6. We live and create on Treaty 7 land and carry deep gratitude for the caretakers of this place we call home. Although we are rooted in Mohkinstsis/Wîchispa Oyade/Otos-kwunee/Guts-ists'i/Calgary Alberta, Canada, ISSAY! Mag is made possible through contributions from around the world.
